At the heart of Irish life for over 60 years
Owned by our members, rooted in our communities, and here to help you move forward through every stage of life.
The Credit Union
Finding you a new way home
Since 1958, Ireland’s Credit Union movement has helped generations of people save, borrow and build better futures. Today, Credit Unions have over 3.5 million members across the Republic of Ireland. Owned by their members and run on a not-for-profit basis, they put people at the heart of everything they do.

The Credit Union
Their local knowledge and personal service reflect a deep understanding of the communities they serve. That enduring connection is reflected in their recognition as Ireland’s most reputable organisation for four consecutive years in the RepTrak-powered Ireland Reputation Index. It’s a proud tradition of people helping people, still going strong.
Membership
Who can join a Credit Union?
Every Credit Union serves a particular community. This is called its common bond, simply the connection that makes you eligible to join.
For some Credit Unions, you can join if you live, work or study in the local area they cover. Others serve people who work in a particular profession, industry or for a specific employer.
In some cases, you may also qualify through a close family member who is eligible or already a member.

Finding your Credit Union
You can find a Credit Union near you by using our handy ‘Find my Credit Union’ facility. It’ll check your employment and home address to see which Credit Union you qualify for.
Don’t forget, if you’ve a family member already in a Credit Union or who works in one of the covered categories of employment, keep that in mind and call their Credit Union directly to check if you can become a member there too.
